In the Tx/Ok panhandle after a large snow storm we would use a 50's Chevy pickup hood pulled by a 1/2 ton, 4x4 and go sledding . 1 to 1.5 mi. straight runs were good . Only had to watch out for one or two culverts hidden in the drifts. speeds reached 45 to 50 after the initial sled paths were made. Damn we really have killed ourselfs, but we were young and foolish then!!!!
