We were building our house and I needed a small tractor. Builder had a 25 hp Kubota (L225) at reasonable price, so I bought it. One year later, I managed to strip out a gear in the tranny, and Kubota wants $1400 for a shaft (key word here) and gear! I was mad, and complaining to my farmer uncle. He advised he knew where a "Jubilee" FOrd was for sale. I rode by & llooked at it, and it wasn't a Jube - It was a 1964 4 cyl. 4000 gas. Too big for me and probably too much money. The following Saturday afternoon, my uncle calls to inform me he has purchased that tractor (the 4000), and I can pay him when I get there to get it! Holy Cow! How did that happen?? He said the farmer selling it wanted $1000 for it, but he told him it wasn't enough. THe deal was made for $1500, but I *had* to take all the implements too, so he could clean up around the old barn! The ending is I now have a pretty 1964 Ford 4000 gas (4 cyl.). It has a 5 speed, with live PTO. I also got a 5' Brushhog, 2 bottom turning plow, rotary hoe, 2 row cultivator, and 6' chisel plow! I was lucky, I guess.

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
