I wanted to add a transmission temp guage to my 98 Chevy 3500 tractor hauler, so I picked up a sending unit and electric guage at Napa. Couldn't figure out where to get power from, so there are 3 power ports in the dash, I took the power cord off of a heater that plugged in that way and used it to power the guage. It has a fuse in the line, so I am pretty sure that I hooked up the guage right. Got the sending unit put in the line this afternoon, started it up and let it run for a few minutes, plugged in the temp guage and it immediately pegged the needle to the hot mark on the guage. Where did I go wrong?? Are the guage and sending unit not compatible? Do I have the wires hooked up wrong? There are only 3 studs on the guage, pretty sure I hooked them up right but ran out of time today. I'll pull the guage tomorrow and check wiring. Any ideas?? Only planned to use the guage when pulling the trailer. Thanks, Chris
