The lighter calves where high too.

Truthfully I did not stay for long after seeing what they were bringing. There is going to be a lot of high moisture corn. A lot of guys are talking about chopping a lot more acres than normal as they are worried that it will not mature before frost. So there will be guys feeding cattle that have not been feeding lately. That is fine, I just do not see giving your grain away by feeding it. Some of the heavy cattle were bringing more than they will sell for when finished. The fat market is looking at hitting the Dollar plus point by late this year. Sure not going to $1.20 fat cattle.
We have cattle locked in from the Dakotas so we will have the normal numbers here. I told the boys that we could sell the feeder cattle and might make as much clear money as feeding them out with fellows giving foolishly high feeder cattle prices.
