Suitable commercial feed at around $13-$15 per 50# bag figuring 1 bag every 1-2 weeks depending on size and activity level of horse. Vet visit hopefully once a year for checkup, Coggins test, wormer, West Nile Virus shot, and several other vaccines around $75-$150. Farrier visit 1-2 times a year depending on how often ridden and if shod - $50. Small square bale of good clean hay at 1 bale every day maybe 2 days - $3-$5 per bale. Least we forget 5-10 gallons of water or more per day. These are the ongoing costs and vary depending on location. Now on to the initial outlays.
