I don't know much about snowmobiles, but, I have heard that leaking crankshaft seals on an older machine is a common problem. The engine then does not draw in a proper mix and runs lean. Often destroys the engine. Could be its more or less OK when cold and starts sucking in more air around the crank as it warms up. The resulting lean mix results in no power.
