Well I have learn that Jan is always right,, But after 28 years KUBOTA experience I can tell you about 90% of the time the originals will put the new gear back within specs. All that he can adjust is the depth of the pinion, replacing both ring and pinion puts it back to original and like most of the posts have said the machined parts are pretty close. Keeping clean oil and the right tires on that little tractor should not have any problems in that area. Most likely someone ran it with an outer axle seal down and let all the oil out.
