we are in Newport, NC on the hiway 24 side. There is a "creek" behind the houses on the other side or the street we live on and the home owners can take there boats out to Bogue Sound. From there they can go either to Bouge Inlet or up toward Atlantic Beach side and then out to the ocean. As the crow flies it is about 4 or 5 miles from our house to the ocean. As it is predicted it looks like we will get hurricane force winds when this goes by. It may not make land fall but we will have major winds and rain here unless the track changes.
