When I was 13, was bringing our JD B home, after a neighbor had been using it. Coming up several miles of nice level high in road gear, I was pretty relaxed, felt a thump, grabbed the clutch lever just as the left rear wheel departed from the tractor. It rolled ahead of me in slow motion, as the tractor dropped down on the mower hitch and slid to a stop in the oncoming lane. Luckily, no traffic at all. If there had been an oncoming, or the tractor hadn't had the hitch on, am sure it would of been a different ending. We jacked it up, and my dad drove it on home. Owned it another 30+ years, and never had a scary incident with it since. John in Nebr.
