If it's just the lead screw/nut stripped or worn out, that's an easy fix.
If the ways are worn beyond the travel of the gibbs, that can be fixed. Not cheap, but if you are not trying to hold close tolerance some shim stock will make it better than it is.
If the table is broken, broken beyond use, deal killer.
They might just be talking about the power feed. Probably a Servo, easy fix.
Look at the table in general. If it's worn and gouged, drilled and abused, good chance it was used in production. But if it is still in good condition, the ways still have the marks visible, it was probably in a tool room, saw an easy life.
The Newel readout is a big plus.
Be ready to spend some money on tooling and a vise though.
