It's obvious that agriculture is an unsafe occupation, but in some instences we take all the necessary precautions to prevent accidents but lets face it sh** happens. Most of it beyond our control. Lets look at the bright side of these accidents or near accidents. Most survived because they were aware of the dangers and knew what to do if a certain situation occurred. Such as knowing to jump clear and which side to jump from when a tractor w/out ROPS is going to roll over. Yes some accidents were caused by the operator not being aware of these dangers. These are the ones that need the most work. Usually they are new to the idea of farming or operating equipment. I have been driving a tractor since I was five, at seven I operated 4-16 semi mount plows unassisted while my dad was on another tractor. Since I was little my dad has drilled safety in my head. I admit I have my dumb moments but I have enough knowledge to figure out in a split second how to correct the situation. The people that really need educated are the non-farming community that take the danger of operating a tractor on the road to a new level. Most of my near mishaps have happened on the road and caused my some idiot in a hurry. These are the things that scare me when I'm on the tractor
