10 years old and always had to help out with everything on the farm. Unloading grain from the truck with an 8" PTO drive auger. Had the 544 on it - about 55 horsepower. It's a dual belt drive, but was brand new at the time so the belts were tight yet. Kicked the tailgate of the truck shut and my foot slipped into the auger, like everyone else says, it happened in slow motion. I watched my foot go in, nothing to grab onto, it just sucked right in, the auger stopped turning for a couple of seconds while I screamed, then the belt grabbed and the auger took my foot off. Luckily my Dad was standing right there and pulled me out before it could take any more. 10 years later I still have trouble walking sometimes and my back and knees are forever messed up because of the way I have to walk. I still have part of my foot, from the heel to the arch - barely enough to keep a high top shoe on. I'm lucky, I'm still here to talk about it.
