Back about 45 years ago I remember watching my dad make a gasket for our Fairbanks Morse water well pump. I was about 9 at the time. I thought it was pretty amazing how he could take a ball peen hammer and form not only the gasket itself but the holes. We had a couple sheets of gasket material hanging on the shop wall but he also used cardboard on occasion. Back in his day they fixed everything they could and made it last. I seem to be a chip off the old block. I hope I make my dad proud and carry on the tradition. ( I am 55 now and dad has been gone for 6 years).
