Another poster ask about machine shops to do some work. Didn't want to hijack that thread.
Someone made a comment about what shops will and wont do anymore. Blaming the shops for something out of their control. Good example is turning rotors and drums. Lot of new vehicles the maker specifies no turning, replace only. In today's sue happy environment a shop doesn't dare touch those. Same kinda thing on other work. Us older guys know that a machinist says "we can try but no guaranties" that's what they meant. Today even if you sign a disclaimer you may still be able to sue. So simple solution is just don't do that "maybe it will work" stuff anymore. And the point is that these people are in fact suing....and winning. Judges are going along with it with the attitude that the shop shouldn't have done "iffy" may work stuff.
