Got any mechanical ability? Take it apart and visually see if it's an easy fix. If not, find your local generator/alternator/starter rebuild shop and have him look at it. In my case, the guy is so busy and favors the local clientele so much that I came in and took my generator home after a full nine months of it sitting in his shop...the whole time him saying that he would have it fixed "in a week or two". One of the better chain-store rebuilders (and I use the term "better" with a chuckle here) is Wilson industries. A lot of NAPA stores are affiliated with them. This would be a case where they ship them off and it comes back after a couple of weeks.
