Hi, first check that the injection pump front drive shaft seal is not leaking Diesel fuel into the crankcase oil and diluting it. Check by pulling crankcase dip stick and see if the oil level is over full and smell the oil on the dipstick and if it smells like Diesel fuel then very likely oil is diluted with Diesel.
Where the cam bearings changed when engine was overhauled?
Does it have an oil pressure gauge or an oil pressure light? If it has a gauge it is normal the oil pressure gauge needle to drop back to just over the top of the "O" in OIL on the gauge when engine is hot.
