I don't think there is any push to control normal sport hunting arms or farm utility arms, just the high capacity magazines and the military style arms.
We protect our ducks with three shot capacity limits and we protect our fish with one hook or one lure limits. Why not protect our school children, church goers, Walmart shoppers, concert goers, and the whole general population with similar very practical limits that will have no effect on the vast majority of hunters and farmers? Back ground checks are more successful at preventing suicides than they are at preventing mass shootings.
