I remember reading comparison charts of filtering efficiency comparing oil bath and dry pleated paper air filters from 20 years ago. The best oil bath air cleaners ever get is about 90% efficient as far as removing dust. Pleated paper gets 95-99% of the dust & dirt. It's NOT a marketing ploy! It's part of the reason engines last 10,000+ hours now instead of the 2000-3000 hrs they used to last. I run oil analysis on my POWERSTROKE engine in My Ford pickup. I had a oiled gauze K&N filter in it and oil analysis always showed silicon levels of 5-8 PPM after only 3000 miles. I put a pleated paper element in it and oil analysis showed ZERO silicon. If You run Your tractor on hard pavement in parades ANY filter will do. If You run in dusty dirty conditions, I would install a pleated paper element.
