About the only dealings I have with big box lumberyards nowdays is online, as the nearest is over 2 hours away. That said, I still remember the first time I ever saw a big box lumberyard. It was a Lowe's. Had high hopes, but was greatly disappointed every time I went into the store. Unfortunately, most people went there and it ended up hurting our local lumberyard very bad.
I like Home Depot and Menards....so long as I don't require assistance. My experience has been that Home Depot has (or at least had) a little better assistance. Thing I hate about Menards is their discount BS! It's all a ploy to get folks coming back again and again.
I have to choose Home Depot as my favorite big box lumberyard. As for customer assistance, can't hardly find that in any store of any size these days.

Dad bought the 202 new in 1962, and I recall quite clearly going to the dealer with him to sign for it.
