Fuse links are usually in the charging circuit. Being hooked to the starter is just to be able to conveniently attach to the battery positive terminal. If the link blew, the alternator may have a shorted diode. There may also be issues with the wiring at the key that would allow the glow plug relay to be turned on with the key off. If the alternator is disconnected at its big output terminal, and the plug in control terminal, does the draw continue? Did you replace the Starter? or the Stater? (stator) The stator is the stationary wire coils in the alternator. Jim
