How to keep a slip cluch from freezing

I just got a ford rotary cutter. I don't know which one but the slip clutch is like the one above.

I just replaced the two friction discs and the two springs because it was frozen up.

Are you supposed to grease or oil a slip clutch to keep it from rusting and freezing up from rain?

Maybe someone could tell me what model I have, 901, 915 or 951B from the type of clutch. It is a 5 footer and the back is straight not tapered.
