A generator can generally just simply be polarized to charge the way your battery is hooked up. You might take a look at your voltage regulator and see if it makes a difference their. Sometimes a regulator will burn up if battery is not hooked up accordingly. Also wires on coil and amp guage will need to be switched as well. Otherwise electricity will flow through them the wrong way thus your amp guage will show discharge instead of charge, and may damage coil.
