I have recently been asked about this subject. From 1939 to 1949 IH sent a lot of tractors to the UK and most of them were Farmall M and H with smaller ammounts of the A, B, W4, W6 and W9. Most of the Ms and Hs were wide fronts with the single front wheel tractors used in Lincolnshire working in potatoes. The A and B tractors came with the handle to lift the mid mounted implements the the implements were made in this country. When the W4 and W6 tractors were introduced in 1940 the first ones made came to the UK. I have seen W4 number 503 and W6 number 510. IH started building tractors at Doncaster in September 1949 with the BM and a fews years later with the SuperBWD6 witch was replaced with the B450 in 1958. MJ
