The rod magazines have compared the new Z-28's to various older Camaros with big blocks. The newer ones hold their own in terms of e.t.'s and mph on the strip and they usually have much better highway gas milage. But nobody gets around the bottom end response of those old rat motors. When you need to pass somebody, or get out of the way of something or whatever...just nail it. The gear really doesn't matter much. Stick or auto doesn't matter a whole lot.
