You bring up a good point. Couple years ago I talked to a NH rep at a farm show. He said one of their 90 hp (or thereabouts) jobs had FIVE computers that had to agree with each other before it would start. A fellow engineer that I used to work with, who is retired now, remarked that his older electronic stuff tended to die for good before any of his older mechanical things did. When I thought about it I saw that he was correct. I believe that the only hope will be twofold: That somehow cheap replacement computers and harnesses will appear and that in some cases it'll be possible to work around the damn stuff. Yup, whoever works on the stuff will be more comfortable with it, having grown up around it. But that may not help with the availability of original parts.
