I can help some with number 4. The overhang is the front of the barn and is called the forebay. It is found on what is refered to as a bank barn. The barn is built into the side of hill with the second story being at ground level so you can drive tractors and equipment into them.Standard was often 80 ft long with a 20 hay mow and then two machinery floors and then another 20 ft mow. The forebay below was used to tie up the horses each morning when harnessing them. The Amish still build their barns that way in many places. Tom
