Serial Number will be stamped, not cast under Number 1 injector for later tractors in the Major range up to 1964. On early tractors it is stamped on the clutch housing flange behind the starter.
If you are lucky it will be on an aluminum plate on the firewall just below the bonnet hinge but in later years this was stopped and the plate used just to say "Ford Motor Company.
Every casting on the tractor will carry a casting date code, this will be three or four letters and numbers like "A12K" or "3K12" which give the month, day and year the casting was made. Ford used castings straight from the foundry so the codes give a fairly accurate date within a week or so.
