SV A generated DC welderr will just about always make a really smooth weld. I like the big old Hobart or Lincoln six cylinder ones the best. Mine only runs at 1800 RPM for 100% power and duty cycle.
Here is my Hobart. In the picture it is stored while I got the trailer sand blasted/painted. If I am doing much stick welding I will go get it for the job, even inside the shop. It just runs a much better weld than any electric ran welder I have owned.
The welds in the picture where made with it. Pretty good considering my 12 year old Grandson ran them all but the second one up from the bottom. Was his first time stick welding too. I ran the one to show him what he wanted them to look like. This was several years ago. He is really good with the wire feed welder today.
