And for what it's worth Cat worked on a quad track design for a loader way back in either the very late 50's or early 60's. Steel track design because of tire issues in mining conditions. About the time Cat was ready to produce it they (tire companies) got the tire (much cheaper) problem under control. So while Deere may have imitated the CaseIH Quad? CaseIH Copied Cat! :lol: :lol:
Same with the guys who want to claim firsts in tractors. First US diesel farm tractor? Cat. Yea it was a crawler on steel but it was an AG tractor. First US tractor with a turbo was Cat too, also on steel tracks.
Heck the only long standing brands are JD and Cat. All the others failed or were bought out. Does that mean that they were better? Or just had better management at a given moment in time? And seeing as neither Cat or Deere bred and raised senior management that was just luck of the draw.
