Let's see, 1954 GMC pickup would of looked a great deal like a 48 thru 54 Chevy or GMC pickup with a major change in the grille for 54, the GMC always had a grille completely different from Chevy, 54 was still six volt, but is relatively easy to change to twelve volt, The GMC I-6 engines were considerably different from the 216-235 Chevy, just look at the manifold, they were physically longer too. The doors, box, fenders, and chassis is all interchangeable with chevy. The door latches and hinges tended to wear pretty bad. Not unusual to have a door fly open on a corner, even in the 60s! Also the window crank mechanism tended to give out. If its original it will have an enclosed driveshaft, which only matters when its time to replace the clutch. Tough, old trucks, with lots of potential. And since they share so much with the chevy pickups, lots of parts still available. My two cents, John in Ne.
