You guys got it all wrong, again!. That's designed that way on purpose, for the citiots who mow their lawn every other day whether it needs it or not (it usually does thanks to 100 pounds of N per square foot per month applied). This feature allows the corner of the deck to turn up a little furrow in the sod, kinda like a marker arm on a planter or drill, so you can actually tell where you should make the next pass when removing 1/8" or less. Those of us who mow the lawn only when prompted by local officials or due to the loss of pets/small children in the tall grass rarely need this deluxe feature.
