The 780 is a small tractor all the way through. Frame is about 2-3" inches narrower than an 880.
The 880 is more like a 990 with a 3 cylinder engine stuck in it. heavier axles, more iron in the frame, bigger fuel tank. The 880 does have a large pin near the front axle to hang implements on. The 880 has a 2-3" diameter hole horizontally through the bell housing that braces the two sides of the loader together. no other DBs have this that I can think of, makes it really easy to spot. Also 880s are very narrow at the engine, all other DBs are basically same width from the clutch forward.
If its a DB loader, there should be a tag on the right side with a model number. A 780 loader will end with a "7", LS7 etc... an 880 one will end with an "8" L8...
