Not totally free, but a good one my dad did way back when. He had bought an older car from the dealership that had a "click" in the engine. Salesman said it was the fuel pump rod. So he buys it, drives it about 2 days and it breaks a piston. He buys a used piston from the junkyard but it won't go in the hole - been overheated so many times that the cylinder is oval shaped! SO he leaves the rings on the piston and puts it in the vice.... Ground it to fit with a hand held grinder - I guess Grandpa was really impressed when he saw this!! Put it back together, drove really slow (about 20mph) back to the dealership and traded it back to them!

Another one of his top moments was a car that had a bad howl in the transmission (gearshift) so they drained the oil and stuffed it full of sawdust and lard and traded it in. I bet that lard started stinking during the next summer!!

As for myself, broke a couple rotors in my day and JB welded them back together - still running. Lots of JB weld in unusual places, along with duct tape and baling wire to hold things together. I was using the A to cultivate trees with a 12' cultivator (wayyy too big for an A) so I built a drawbar that was up higher so it would pull the front wheels off the ground for more traction and hooked a wire to the governor for more RPMs. Let me tell you that those Farmall A's are tough machines!
