Steven, thanks for setting some of this straight! It would be interesting to hear from the engineering folks about the pro's and con's of straight 6's, V-8's, -10's, and -12's, etc and why the light and medium trucks are packaged the way they are. I think it's a lot more complicated than just one being "better" than the other. I have cursed the design of some of the USAF aircraft I've flown and then had to eat crow when I listened to the engineers who designed the aircraft and heard about constraints and tradeoffs in performance in other areas, often more critical to survival and success. (The best example in my experience is the U-2.) Often times, there are huge tradeoffs and compromises (no free lunch). Thanks for your input.
