Anything is possible! Nothing to lose by leaving the radiator cap loose and running it for a while. Maybe pull the spark plugs some time and see if they show anything. I'm trying to remember if they're long reach, or not. Bugs me that I can't remember those things anymore. I know I made sure my temp gauge was good, then put in a 180 degree thermostat, so even when just mowing around, it warms up good.
