Plowed with Dad's 1030 and 6x16 semi-mounted plow back in the late 70s. Haven't seen a plow used in this country since those days. Spring plowing was always done with a pony drill at the same time. Dad's tractor had 500lb weights inside the wheels and fluid in the 20.8x38s. Didn't have any extra weights in front of the wrap around weights. I was a little guy then and couldn't reach the pedals without sitting on the edge of the seat and try to anchor myself onto the steering wheel for leverage. When I'd release the clutch, it would throw me back some and with that semi-mounted plow hooked up, the front of the tractor would come off the ground a foot or two if you let it get the best of you. Not sure who was pushing who around in that cab. I also remember how I hated plowing in the fields that had a fence line to turn in front of. Always afraid I'd hook the fence with that 3point mounted plow when I turned out on the ends.
