As I best recall, Horsepower is a function of Torque X RPM which is why an old two cylinder Deere might be rated at say 12 HP at 1000 RPM while a lawn mower engine may be rated at say 12 HP BUT AT 3600 RPM. Then there's the whole difference in HP on the drawbar versus HP on the belt pulley due to all the friction heat and HP losses in turning all the gears etc. Then there's the hype about PEAK versus Continuous HP grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
