If you happen to be speaking about the Oliver's, I couldn't agree more. They were really advanced for their time and well engineered. I know of many Olivers from that period still in daily use. If you are speaking of John Deere, he invented the better plow. Nothing else. JUST the plow. JD tractors came from Waterloo Boy. They never invented their own. Then around 1960 they introduced a 6-cylinder like it was something new. Oliver had them in thier Row Crop 70, IH had them in thier W-40 in 1934. I grew up red, and I remain red because the red equipment has fed and clothed me for 21 years now and I know it will continue to do so during my lifetime. I have only stated the facts about tractor production above, so that shouldn't be open to arguing unless I might be off a year or two. Every manufacturer made a tractor that served thier customers well for many years so in my eyes they all succeeded. What I love to do is preserve these pieces of history for future generations, I have Farmall in my collection now because that is what I have found, JD will be added whenever I find one with the right price for me, also the other brands when I catch them.
