One possibility is the govenor, check see if the gov rod to the carb opens it as the hand lever is pulled. If that happens the engine will loose vacum and die. If operating properly tne hand lever when pulled will advance the gov arm and as the engine gains speed the throttle will advance gradually and ny lean out. The carb is simple to dissasemble a kit will come with all info required. Good luck.
