I have a 44 Special and a good sealed transmission case from a 333. The case has disc brakes, live PTO clutch, hubs, lowered PTO shaft. Since my 44S lacks the options, naturally, I want to bolt up my Special U-frame and powertrain to this 10 speed case. Two studs were longer on the triple series bolts, and the input shaft length might vary. I have a project tearing down both, to install the disc brakes & live clutch. I lose the 10 speed and lowered PTO. As the Special needs axle seals, labor seems equal or less changing cases. Will the Special U-frame bolt up and function properly with the triple series tranny case? The manuals show a different part number on the bell housing. I saw a 444 U-frame bolted to a '53 44(40K series) but did not inspect the marriage. Any conflict to wisely avoid, or is it managible union? Knowledge is power. Thank you.
