I agree with CJ, the volume from the pump will be low enough that it won't be much of a consideration.

With industrial hydraulic systems, the rule of thumb is to keep the pressure side line velocity below 20 feet per second, and on the return side keep the velocity below 5 feet per second.

This can be calculated by dividing the GPM by the square area of the hydraulic line. Of course, with the math the terms will have to match.
