It depends on what the make is, how popular the model was, and who's dealing parts and service within a reasonable distance from where you are at. Oliver has been defunct for some time, but there sure are Oliver fans out there. I dunno to what extent AGCO (who bought White which had owned Oliver) still supports the 550. Central Tractor or whatever they call themselves now was one supplier of new and used parts. Sometimes there are pockets of former Oliver dealers/mechanics out there that can help. You'd be wise to see how all this fits with your situation before you commit. I know a guy with a 550 who likes it a lot. He also has hard a tough time getting various parts for it and he does a lot of his own work.
