Yes, the archives are full of advice. I had the identical problem 3 weeks ago. After consulting the archives (and Big Dean) I had my gas tank redone at a local place that specializes in such work. It cost me $90. (Can) to have the thing blasted out and relined with a modern, plastic type liner. I redid the carb and cleaned out all the lines. I changed the filter. Seems to work just fine now.
