Hoe drills work best in hard dry clay getting the seed down into the moisture. I wish our soil was as light as the Midwest soil is I laugh when I see a 2 cylinder John Deere walking along with 3x14 plows 8 inches deep . 3x14 works the guts out of a 70 horsepower tractor in our ground . Back in the day when 706 and 3020 were new they demoed then with 3x14 plows . The neighbor pulls 3x16 Massey with a 2 -155 white and it�s a good load for it a 5.5 mph
