That route you are madly in what we call the higher country. So mostly grazing cattle and sheep. You may see some hay making, they are not big cropping areas. Ballarat is famous for gold mining and has beautiful buildings. Went to BC back in the early 90's and was amazed to find Capt James Cook had been there as well as finding us over here. Enjoy your time in Oz and I hope the people are as friendly as your Canadian folks were to us when we visited.
