If you go to the American Petroleum Institute web site you will gain a lot of knowledge about oil grades. If you know what API grade your engine uses and buy oil with that label, it doesn't matter who manufactured it, it will meet the requirements of your engine manufacturer. Most of the price of the brand names go for advertising expense to try to brainwash you, so I buy the least expensive, appropriate API grade I can find and ignore the advertisements.
