I am thinking about swapping out a bad belarus 500 engine (289 cu in series)with ...perhaps a 4 cylinder toyota engine. It seems to me that if the distance from the pilot busining to the front of the input shaft can be recreated, and a hole for the pilot bushing in the end of the crank be modified ie bushed out, that it is viable. Has anyone gone in this direction. The tractor does driveways and other light duty chores so the fuel consumption is not really an issue. Has any one tried this and would share some of their tricks/thoughts on the matter. P.S. I am also looking (easy way out) for an engine for it. I am in Guelph Ontario Canada. The big problem with the tractor is that it is probably only worth 2500 in excellent condition. Doooouggghhhh. (As Homer would say). Bye for now.
