The smoke could be from an engine problem, but i think you are useing the higher (faster) speed in the PTO. Use the SLOWEST PTO speed setting, and try again. All the import tractors i've seen the PTO speeds start out at close to 540, and the other speeds are faster. Those faster PTO speeds really put a load on the engine!! (black smoke)
Most of those tractors (imports) are rated for HP in the engine, so 30 probably isn't the PTO HP. That means a 6' hog will be a big load with that tractor in anything but short dry grass!
