Without knowing where,how bad the crack is this may not work. Some guys have sucessfully sealed a cracked block with a product named "Liquid Glass". The directions must be followed exactly to work. The block is junk as is, so the only thing you've got to lose is the cost of the sealer. Back to welding; locally there's a company that will weld blocks,heads, manifolds etc. and guarantees the job. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. Perhaps you can locate such a company near you. BTW, I just sold my 801B w/loader for $1,500. The old Case was in need of tlc, did I sell too low?
