Have to have reliable equipment to make a go of it. I've seen lots of guys while they had other issues an expensive breakdown at the wrong time was the straw that broke the camel's back. Dad had a tractor many years ago that was a lemon and the dealer could have made good on it but did not. Cost him money that he could not afford to lose in the scheme of things. When I think about it as an adult that tractor just about broke him. Had my mother been of a different constitution she could have thrown her hands up and pushed for the farm to have been sold. I know a fair number of guys here are not JD lovers but they have never cost more than they should to run. Especially, when I look at the years of service. I've spent a little here and there on my 6620 combine but I have never had to do anything in the way of major repairs.
